Josie aka Brianna is a little 4 year old Cocker mix weighing in at 12 lbs. She is as cute as can be, however she needs a foster home that is willing to work with her. She has been snappy in meet & greet situations and can be aggressive with other dogs. We took her to a behaviorist to have her evaluated and they said it was out of fear.
We spent some time with her and one of our volunteers and she was jumping all over us, kissing us and just begging for attention. We need to get her into a home that will work with her. We all feel she will do great with some patience and training. DFWCSR is paying for continued support and sessions with the behaviorist. She such a tiny little thing and she really just wants to be loved.
UPDATE on JOSIE, Aug 13,2017.
We took Josie for a training session today. She was extremely charming during the time she spent with us. When she first got to the training studio she was so excited about being out of a crate and off-leash, she entertained us with the zoomies! It was adorable and warms the heart watching her have fun. There were several toys scattered around, and throughout the lessons she would take a break and just play with the toys. She truly is just a girl that wants to have fun!
We set some goals for her training sessions:
Loose leash walking
Some FAR BEYOND techniques to retrain the negative reactions to positive reactions.
Josie is very eager to learn and work with all of us. She is a quick learner and I think we will soon see the results of her hard work.
We will be working with her during the week reinforcing everything she has been taught. The next two weeks we will be practicing what we learned today. We have scheduled two more sessions- Sept 2nd and Sept 9th. We have a really good feeling about this dog. Keep your paws crossed!
