Handley is a sweet soul. He is about 10 years old, but he has plenty of life in him as Cockers can live to be 14 and up. He probably was not taken very good care of before coming to DFWCSR. He has cataracts, but he still has some vision and he is a little hard of hearing.
The worst problem was a huge lipoma on his backside near his tail. It actually moved his handsome natural tail to the side and started making it difficult for him to potty and walk. We recently had it removed and he came through it with flying colors. He has even wagged his tail for the first time and can hold it up. He is not quite ready for adoption yet but he will be after the incision heals. If you would like to help, his surgery was approximately $400-$600.
Handley is good with his foster siblings, even the mean Chihuahua. He wants to be around people and does not care for being crated. He is also a little stubborn on the leash so we are about to try a harness once he is feeling better. He does enjoy ear rubs and petting and is quiet and rarely barks. He does not get on furniture at this point but we do not know if that will change as he heals.
We will update as he begins to feel better and he is ready for adoption. His foster mom thinks Seniors rock!
If you would like to meet Handley, please complete our adoption application and put his name at the top. http://dfwcockerrescue.org/ under Adoptions, Adoption Information.
