On January 22, 2011, our sweet, beautiful Porley lost his seven month battle with cancer. We adopted him from DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue in July of 2002 (he was called “Taylor” then) and he lived with us in both Texas and Georgia. He was a wonderful companion for everyone in the family.
Food was his thing, he lived to eat. And comfort. Wherever there was a comfy pillow or a thick blanket, there was Porley. Unless, of course, someone was in the kitchen. If someone was in the kitchen, Porley had to be there, too.
One day when I was very sick Porley climbed in bed with me and pressed his back up against mine. We slept like that for hours. I will never forget what a comfort that was.
It is hard to imagine life without that special little animal. He was a gentle soul who brought a lot of joy and love to a lot of people.
Rest in peace, little guy.
