About
Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 (Corona) virus, in-person home visits are not possible at this time. Since this is a very important part of finding the best home for our dogs, we are not accepting any applications from first-time pet owners, applicants who have not had a pet in the past 3 years, or applicants who cannot furnish vet records. We hope you understand and that you will consider applying to adopt once restrictions have been lifted.
Ford is a year and a half old. He weighs about 20 pounds, an average size for a Cocker Spaniel. He spent the first year of his life in a kennel will very little human contact. He loves other dogs but is very nervous with people, especially men. He has taken months to trust us, but he is super sweet and there is not a mean bone in him. He has never snapped or growled. We have struggled with potty training since he was used to doing his business in his run, but he is doing much better and has had very few accidents. He is crate trained. Keeping him on a schedule is very helpful. He spent months with a leash on him (umbilical method) so that he got used to following us around the house, going potty and getting familiar with various noises.
He has been groomed professionally about three times and has done very well. He loves to eat and sits for his treats. First noise he conquered was the ice dispenser, he loves ice cubes! He and his foster brother both love them. I am still working on getting him to shake.
Ford tries very hard to please! He sleeps in his crate at night and does not have a problem going in and sleeping for the night. He would not do well with children but would be good with a couple or single person. I really think he would do best with another dog in the house, especially another passive dog. He follows one of ours everywhere and I feel like he is more secure when he is with him. This really helps with potty training.
Ford still needs lots of work and would probably benefit in puppy training. He just needs the right person/persons to work with him.
