About
Meet Tracy!
When Tracy was accepted into DFWCSR from a medical neglect situation, she was overweight at 39 pounds, had red, irritated, crusty eyes, an unknown heart condition, and an infected, maggot filled wound on her back. In the many months that followed, sweet Tracy has had all of her medical issues addressed and today she is a happy, healthy girl!
Tracy’s eyes are now clear and comfortable with eye drops to soothe her dry eyes, which are easily administered because she stands calm and still. Her heart condition has been diagnosed and she doesn’t need medication or any activity restrictions at this time. She was able to have a successful surgery to repair the wound on her back and she has healed perfectly. Lastly, she lost 35% of her body weight and is down to a healthy 25 pounds!
Through all her appointments, procedures and recovery, Tracy has been nothing but the best girl. She LOVES cuddling. If you’re on the couch, she’ll hustle over and try to fit as much of her body into your lap as possible. She loves sleeping next to her person at night and taking walks. She dances with excitement when she sees her harness and is an enthusiastic walker who barely stops to sniff.
For all her time in foster care, she’s been a perfect house guest. She hasn’t displayed any aggression or separation anxiety, gotten into anything she shouldn’t, or had any accidents (although she may leak a tiny bit when she’s nervous in a new environment). She isn’t bothered by rain, thunderstorms or fireworks. She sleeps through the night. She’s social and enjoys being around people and is good with other dogs.
Tracy is a goofy girl who communicates with moans, groans and low growl-like noises when she’s happy. Her noises aren’t aggressive, they’re just her way of communicating. She will cry with delight when you come home. She licks the air when you scratch just the right spot. She doesn’t play too often, but when she does, she only likes small balls. Her favorite activity is catch, but she’s terrible at it in the most endearing way. Even when you toss a ball directly into her mouth, you’ll probably end up fetching it for her.
If you give her a chance, Tracy will reward you by bringing laughs and being completely devoted to you. She’s a wonderful companion. Her goofy personality, deep love of cuddling, and happy demeanor are sure to steal your heart.
