About
Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 (Corona) virus, in-person home visits are not possible at this time. Since this is a very important part of finding the best home for our dogs, we are not accepting any applications from first-time pet owners, applicants who have not had a pet in the past 3 years, or applicants who cannot furnish vet records. We hope you understand and that you will consider applying to adopt once restrictions have been lifted.
Meet Brody!
Brody is a cute chocolate & white Cocker Spaniel estimated to be 10 years old. He came into our care in fairly rough shape, but he’s spent the last 8 weeks on the mend with a foster and he’s almost ready for his forever home.
Here’s what his foster mom has to say:
When I first picked Brody up from boarding, he was in really tough shape. He had significant hair loss, ear infections in both ears, a fungal infection on his belly and too many lumps and bumps to count. With lots of TLC he has really transformed back into the beautiful boy I’m sure he was before!
Brody will be considered special needs because he requires twice daily meds for a thyroid issue (he takes pills super easy) and he is completely deaf, but that does not slow him down at all! Because of this, I think he’ll do best in a home with another dog because he takes queues from my two resident dogs to know what to expect while on walks, when to come inside the house from the yard, etc. He loves his daily walk and walks on a leash like a champ! He’ll need a home with a fenced yard where someone is home most of the day because he cannot be kenneled. Like many Cocker Spaniels, it gives him anxiety. This is a must.
He is great with older kids and while he has not been tested with cats outside of visits to the vet, he’s done great with them there. He rides well in the car and I’m sure he would love to go with his humans whenever possible! He sleeps curled up in his own bed on the floor and sleeps through the night. I would describe him as 95% potty trained, but we use wraps when we leave the house for extended periods just in case. He will go to the back door to signal when he needs to go out.
His favorite things: Kisses on his forehead, ear rubs, treats, laying in the sunshine on the patio, walks around the neighborhood and following his foster mom around the house
His least favorite things: Being kenneled
Brody would make a great velcro dog for someone looking for a constant companion. He gives great kisses and will paw at you if you stop petting him. He really is the best boy! He’s super sweet and he’s been an absolute joy to foster. I’m going to have a hard time letting him go, but I’ll be happy to know he’ll be loved forever!
