URGENT: Foster Needed for Stanley
DFWCSR is in urgent need of a foster for a senior dog adopted from us whose dad has come upon hard times. Per the rules of our adoption contract, Stanley’s owner contacted us for help, so we will take the dog back in as a temporary resident while dad gets back on his feet.
Stanley is a handsome 14-year-old buff male Cocker Spaniel mix with a lovely, long natural tail. He is a little shy at first, taking his time to approach new people, but gradually warms up and is friendly. He moves around well for an older guy and is very curious. He was sniffing around everywhere he could reach and then patiently allowed us to extract him from the rose bush he wandered into! Stanley would love to have a backyard to explore.
From our brief meeting with Stanley’s owner, it was not clear how well he is house-trained or if he is used to a crate. He does not do well with other dogs, so he will have to be an only dog. His owner said he does very well around children. Stanley has some health issues that will need to be addressed once we take him in, so a foster may need to continue his treatment while he heals. We will choose one of our vet partners as close to your home as we can. DFWCSR will cover all veterinary costs and grooming while Stanley is in your care.
Stanley’s ideal home would be with someone who is home most of the time and has no pets. Any children would need to be 10 years or older. A fenced backyard is recommended since, with his reactivity to other dogs, long neighborhood walks and dog parks are not good options for him.
Can you open your home and your heart to Stanley so he feels comfort and loved during the time he is separated from his family?
