JW – Applications Closed

About

Update: On assessment, JW has revealed some behavior issues that will need to be addressed with an experienced foster/trainer before he is ready for adoption. We will post when he is ready. If you have submitted an application, please bear with us.

Introducing JW

JW is a handsome 2-year-old boy with 22 lbs of high energy. He loves chasing squirrels and will play catch with anything, until you or he gives up. He is very good with other dogs and always wants to play. Eventually JW will be a good lap dog and occasionally he will just hang out on the couch, but for now, he doesn’t stay in one place for very long. When he gets in your lap he will just melt into your chest. I am working to teach him not to get in my face when he gets in my lap. He does do well with adults and older children.

JW is partially house trained, but he is still learning, so he should be let outside hourly to prevent accidents. He has no issue with thunderstorms but can be skittish with noises around the house. He seems calm as I leave the house and is patient for me to let him out when I return.

JW’s behavior is very much like a puppy that has not been trained, but seems to pick up on things as I work with him.  He understands ‘No’ and ‘Down’ very well. He is a happy, energetic Cocker Spaniel who would make a great companion for almost any active family.

If you would like to meet JW, please complete our adoption/foster application (they’re the same) and put his name at the top.  Our application and detailed info about our process can be found on our website: https://dfwcockerrescue.org/adoption-process/
