About

Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 (Corona) virus, in-person home visits are not possible at this time. Since this is a very important part of finding the best home for our dogs, we are not accepting any applications from first-time pet owners, applicants who have not had a pet in the past 3 years, or applicants who cannot furnish vet records.  We hope you understand and that you will consider applying to adopt once restrictions have been lifted.

Hey all, I’m Lester. The good people at DFWCSR took me off the streets and have been getting me ready for my new family.  I’m about 8 years old and a big big boy! I am told my feet are massive.  I had heartworms, so I took a few months off from doing anything.  I might have put on a few pounds since my street days. I heard the word diet- I don’t really know what that is.   I think it means I need to lose some weight.

I’ve been staying with a great family that is teaching me how to be a family dog again.  I know how to sit, wait for my dinner and ring the bell to go outside.  I sleep in a kennel at night, but I’d love to snuggle with you.  During the day I love to play with all sorts of toys, go on walks, or go hang out with other dogs at the dog park.  We play fetch and chase each other around.  I’ll show how much fun it is!

I do have some things that my forever family needs to know.  My ears are big and floppy, so I need to make sure they stay clean and dry.  I’ve had a couple ear infections and they hurt, so I’m a little sensitive when my ears are touched.  I also look a lot like the cartoon dog Droopy.  We have the same eyes!  I will need eye drops twice a day.  Foster mom gives them to me and it’s super easy.  I love to eat, like all the time!  Food is yummy!  I like anything you’ll give me, but please don’t bother me while I’m eating.  I might think you’re taking my food away and I’ll use my outside voice to let you know.

Lester is a big boy who does need to lose some weight.  He loves to play and eat! He gets along with his foster siblings and all the humans in our home.  He needs a family with older kids who can respect his boundaries with his ears and his food dish.  He’d do well in a home as a second dog, or as a spoiled solo dog.   He’s a big, goofy, clumsy boy who loves belly rubs, playing fetch and chasing squirrels.  He also loves to sleep, eat and drink lots of water.  He’s kind of messy when he’s drinking, so we keep a towel near to dry off his face.

If you would like to meet Lester, please complete our adoption application and put his name at the top.  Our application and detailed info about our process can be found on our website here: https://dfwcockerrescue.org/adoption-process/
