About
Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 (Corona) virus, in-person home visits are not possible at this time. Since this is a very important part of finding the best home for our dogs, we are not accepting any applications from first-time pet owners, applicants who have not had a pet in the past 3 years, or applicants who cannot furnish vet records. We hope you understand and that you will consider applying to adopt once the shelter-in-place restrictions have been lifted.
Louie is a wonderful companion. His handsome looks, intelligence, and winsome personality are sure to steal your heart. He has loved everyone he’s met so far with his foster and everyone has loved him!
He is a very social boy. He loves being around people and has been fine around other dogs he’s met. He loves to ride in the car and is well mannered while riding. He also loves toys and seems to enjoy balls and plush toys equally. He likes playing fetch but rarely brings the toy all the way back to you. Louie is active, he likes being outdoors and really enjoys taking walks. He has shown himself to be non-reactive to other people, dogs and cars while walking. For the first few minutes he walks at a brisk pace but then adjusts to whatever pace the person walking him wants to go. He’s happy to walk as far as you want to go. He also enjoys lying on the back porch and surveying the backyard.
He’s a very intelligent guy. He knows sit, down and shake and is working on come and stay. He’s treat-motivated and easy to train. Louie is well mannered and very rarely begs. At the end of the day he enjoys a good cuddle. If you’re too far away he will crawl over to you so he can touch you. Occasionally he might sit in your lap.
Louie is eight years old and weighs 30 pounds. He has great vision and hearing and has no known medical problems. He is house trained and hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home. He uses a dog door when he is alone, so it’s unclear how long he goes between bathroom breaks, but he does not get up during the night to go.
Louie would love to be with someone who lives in a house and doesn’t come and go too often, because he has some separation anxiety and will vocalize loudly when you leave. He has never been destructive, but it’s easier for him if he’s not left alone several times in one day. He’d also be happy to come along on your outings!
While Louie was in boarding waiting for a foster, he did nip at two people. A trainer has since evaluated him and she said he shows no sign of aggression and suspects he was stressed and/or scared. The trainer expressed no reservations about him being adopted. Louie has not shown any aggression with his foster, but he would do best in a home without children or children 16 years or older.
Louie is the sweetest boy and would he love to show you in person!
