About

Sunny is ready for her BIG WELCOME to DFWCSR!

Sunny is an adorable twelve pound, 18 month old Cockapoo who was surrendered to a shelter. Her world was flipped up-side-down in a few days–separation from family, delivery to a noisy kennel, and her spay procedure. The shelter environment frightened her, so she stayed in the office with one of the shelter workers.

Sunny was cautious when meeting our volunteer, but warmed up after being offered some cheese (a super-treat for dogs). She ate the first piece from the floor, then took the next piece and several more from her hand. After that, she allowed petting and even wagged her little nubby tail. She warned other dogs getting too close for comfort by growling, but she has not bitten or attacked. She shared free roaming space with a Chihuahua and Boston terrier in the office. When not in the shelter worker’s lap, she preferred a bed under a desk.

Sunny will need time and patience to acclimate to a new home and become comfortable. She is fearful of the yard and wants to stay close to you. She will ignore other animals around because she wants to be your lap dog. It’s likely that she has never lived with other pets. A slow and steady introduction to life in a home setting will definitely win the race with her.

This adorable little one just needs some time and patience to learn “how to be a dog”. Once she does, she has the potential to be a wonderful companion for some lucky adopter.

Sunny is beginning her rescue journey to a new home with a foster in the DFW area. She is not yet ready for adoption but we will post updates on her progress as we get them.

Welcome, Sunny!
